About Us

Victoria Surgery is situated on the west side of Bury St Edmunds. We have a practice population of approximately 11000 patients and are happy to look after patients both in and around the town.

The practice's founding father was Dr Edward Stork who, having an interest in small pox, came to help with an outbreak in the town in 1912. Enjoying his experience of Bury he decided to stay and set up practice on the Cornhill.

Victoria Surgery

From small beginnings a succession of doctors joined him and the expanding practice subsequently moved to Angel Hill and then Looms Lane.

Since 1993 the partnership has worked out of its purpose built premises in Victoria Street.

The practice is close to the town centre having its own parking and is suitable too for wheelchair users.

We have invested in technology and our current website is probably one of the first in the UK to have a video download facility.  This has a comprehensive list of videos on many medical conditions and we hope you find this useful. We believe we are the first General Practice in the West Suffolk region to have significantly invested in solar technology. Climate change is an evolving challenge which threatens the essentials of life. As an NHS provider we hope to inspire others to adapt to climate change.

We have strong links with the medical school at Cambridge University.  All our doctors are involved in regular medical students teaching. In 2013 we were delighted to be chosen as a practice to train young GPs.
