History of the Practice

Victoria Surgery is situated on the west side of Bury St Edmunds. We have a practice population of approximately 11000 patients and are happy to look after patients both in and around the town.

The practice's founding father was Dr Edward Stork who, having an interest in small pox, came to  help with an outbreak in the town in 1912. Enjoying his experience of Bury he decided to stay and set up practice on the Cornhill. From small beginnings a succession of doctors joined him and the expanding practice subsequently moved to Angel Hill and then Looms Lane. Since 1993 the partnership has worked out of its purpose built premises in Victoria Street.
